What this site stores
This website is deliberately light on storage. Everything it keeps sits in your own browser, and the table below is the complete list at the time of writing.
| Name | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
vl.consent.v1 | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choice so you are not asked again | Up to 13 months |
vl.announce.v1 | Strictly necessary | Keeps the announcement bar dismissed once you dismiss it | Up to 13 months |
vl.locale.v1 | Strictly necessary | Remembers which language you are reading, so a link from an email opens in it and the site opens in it when you come back | One year |
vl.session.v1 | Strictly necessary | Remembers that you are signed in, so a page opens with the header you expect instead of correcting it a moment later. It holds one value and no address | Until you sign out |
vl.theme.v1 | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme | Until you change it |
_ga, _ga_NDVPPHFJ41 | Analytics | Which pages and features are used. Never your verified addresses | Up to 13 months |
| None set | Marketing | Measuring which campaign brought you here | - |
How your checks are counted
Your checks are counted against your account’s credit balance, on the server. Nothing on your device counts them, and nothing is stored here to identify you for it. Whose balance it is comes from the session described above. Separately, how fast one network address may ask is limited in memory and written nowhere; that is what stops the checker being used to enumerate mailboxes. Both are set out in the privacy policy.
Changing your choice
Analytics and marketing storage are used only if you accept them. Nothing in those categories is pre-enabled, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it:.
Third parties
Google Analytics 4 loads immediately in Consent Mode. Before you accept analytics storage, or if you decline it, it sends measurement signals to Google without reading or writing analytics cookies. Accepting enables analytics cookies and product events; withdrawing consent returns it to measurement without analytics cookies. Advertising features are disabled. No advertising pixels, no session recording, no embedded chat.
